Subject: re: Stempel Family

Dear  Gemma,

My name is Traci Stempel, I am the daughter of Paul and Robyn Stempel who Resided in San Diego.

You helped my uncle Greg Hunt locate my father, who in turn was able to locate me in Australia.
I really do not know where to begin with this letter, but to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart ( I am crying as I type this letter as I am so thankful).

I have only just received your contact details today, and I wanted to contact you both, straight away, to let you know how everything turned with all thanks to you both. Firstly I would like to give you a little background.

My mother ( Robyn) passed away in August of 1985 in Australia from Cervical cancer, after my mothers death our family went there separate ways. My mother was always the cement that kept the family together. My father moved back to the U.S with my brothers Sean & Troy. I continued to stay in Australia as I had met a nice boy ( Lenny) and had my first daughter Tabbitha born June 1985.

I lost all contact with my mothers family here in Australia, only keeping in close contact with my Father in the U.S and my brothers. My father had also lost contact with my mothers family as the years passed.

In April of 2007, I was sitting at work when I received a telephone call from my dad, I knew something was up, as he only calls if it is urgent.

He told me how my Uncle Gregory had been trying to locate me here in Australia for almost 12mths and could not find me, and that my pop was very sick and wanted me. My father continued to tell me how he became involved, and as the story unfolded, I could not believe the enormity of our luck, or how after almost 20 years someone remembered our family and continued to do what they could to find us. I was absolutely amazed. You ( Gemma)  could of just said "oh I knew that family once" and left it at that, but you went beyond that by asking a friend to investigate this as a favour, this was just beyond anything imaginable.

I am still amazed to this day that Greg went to a 20 year old address, across the other side of the world, to find a relative whom lives about 6 hours drive from him here in Australia.

I just can never thank you enough, I had not seen my Uncle Greg for a good 15 years.

The point of Greg wanting to find my family, and myself is because my Grand father was dying and my father had promised at the time of my mothers death in 1985 that my Grand Father (Harry) would be buried with my mum. When my grandfather was closer to passing he kept asking constantly if Greg had contacted Paul about him being buried with my mum. Greg was so so sad at did not have the heart to let him know he could not find us. He wanted to grant his father, my grandfather his last dying wish, and that was to be buried with his daughter, (Robyn).

The miracle of all of this is it definitely was in God's hands. For a year Greg tried to find us, and just weeks before my grandfather died, this just all happened, you found my dad (Paul) in turn he contacted me, I was able to contact my Uncle Greg within days of my grandfather being buried.

I was not able to see my pop before he passed, but more importantly, he was buried next to mother 27th April 07.  In a place called Woronora, at Woronora Cemetery on beautiful leafy hill over looking a beautiful reserve and river Called Woronora River it is an absolutely beautiful peaceful place.

You both not only helped in granting my pop his last wish, but you brought a family back in touch, I just cannot believe how this all happened. I do believe my mother was guiding Greg's letter with her hand from Heaven its just to surreal after so much time had passed. The both of you are wonderful people I just will never have enough words to thank you.

My mother is and always will be an unforgettable presence in my life, to know my mother left such memories after so many years just reminds me of what a beautiful person she was.

God Bless
All the best
Thank you, Thank you

Traci Stempel
